How does the Actionable Slack App work?

The Actionable Slack App is an optional feature that your Actionable Consulting Partner may have enabled. It allows you to receive your commitment nudges and notifications via Slack, rather than email or SMS.

Enabling the Actionable Slack App

The Actionable Slack App can be enabled in your Account Settings. Enabling the Actionable Slack App will overwrite any preferred notification choices on active and future commitments. If you've usually been receiving SMS notifications, those will switch to Slack notifications.

If you are a new Actionable user, you will need to create your first Commitment and define either SMS or Email as your preferred notification method. Then, follow the steps below to enable Slack, instead.

  1. Log in to Actionable.
  2. Click on the avatar in the top right-hand corner. Then, click "Account Settings."
  3. If your Actionable Consulting Partner has enabled Slack, you'll see an "Add to Slack" button.

  4. After clicking that button, you'll be brought to a page confirming the installation of the Actionable Slack App. You will either be able to install the app, or request permission from your Slack Administrator.

  5. Once the app is enabled, you'll receive a Slack message through the Actionable Slack App confirming that you've successfully enabled the Actionable Slack App. This will show up as “Actionable” under the “Apps section” in the sidebar.

Using the Actionable Slack App

The Actionable Slack App is very easy to use. If you have an active Commitment, it will deliver a nudge at your preferred notification time. Follow the link in that notification to Check In on your commitment.
